Lord Whimsy and His Apocalyptic Epiphany: Wrath

This is almost too good to share with strangers. However, if you have stuck with me this long, you are all right by me–just do not call me “nice.”

  1. Todd says:

The concept is good, but the execution is lacking. I can’t take the guy seriously…

But more importantly they treat wrath and anger as if they were the same thing. Anger can be a virtue and that is what they should celebrate. Wrath is not. Deciding to embrace wrath doesn’t make you a tough no-nonsense man that drinks gin. It just makes you an asshole.

They should have hired a consultant who knows the importance of using the right word. That and hired an actor that doesn’t look and talk like a sissy trying to look tough.

This video makes me angry because it is an important enough topic that they should have done it right.

  2. I see what you did there in that last sentence.

The world ends in another day, and you want to quibble (though, done most well) with a gin commercial? Lord Whimsy might be the real deal–well, as real as someone can be who proclaims surface features to be the sine qua non of one’s identity. Too bad we couldn’t have had this decadent gentleman perform.

As for me, I intend to watch an episode of Black Books, drink a bottle of sweet muscadine wine, and read Evelyn Waugh’s The Loved One. Perhaps at the same time.
